Today we met up at the Berlin Airlift. This area was a memorial to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France who helped end the Second World War. These forces controlled the western parts of Berlin while the east was controlled by Soviet troops. The airlift was vital in terms of transportation because it provided aid, food, and safety for east Berlin and West Berlin. This memorial was designed very thoughtfully because it has three points; one point facing in the direction of each of the nations that helped end the war. One thing I learned from this site is that this was a prime example of how transportation and collaboration can change the world.
After going off and exploring a bit, we met back up with the class at the Templehof Airfield Memorial, however today was one of the days in which it was closed so instead the class split up to go explore more of the area. My group rented bikes and went to see the back of the airfield. This was a very fun experience. Then we rode to BRLO brewery where we met for drinks before heading out for the day.
